The Expert
Life is not a problem
waiting to be solved.
It is a mystery
waiting to be lived.
We keep trying to fix it,
to manage it,
to bring it under control.
But control
is only another name for the
cage.
True love is not possession.
It is freedom.
It is the quiet appreciation
of what cannot be owned.
Yet most of us prefer
the comfort of familiar misery
to the terrifying openness of
healing.
It is easier
to manage a life you hate
than to step into a space
where mistakes are possible
and control is lost.
You become an expert
at your own survival.
You perfect the defenses,
the coping mechanisms,
the careful strategies
that keep the pain manageable.
Giving them up
means losing the identity
you spent years building.
You do not yet know
who you are without them.
True peace has no script.
It asks you to drop the armor,
to make mistakes,
to tolerate the vulnerability
of not knowing what comes next.
That openness
is exactly what the hyper-
vigilant
nervous system fears most.
Hell is not a place below the
ground.
Heaven is not a place above the
clouds.
Both are psychological states
we create and inhabit every
day.
Being an expert
at handling your own pain
is only a sophisticated trap
of the unconscious mind.
The real risk
is not the unknown.
The real risk
is remaining an expert
at a life
that never opens.
