The Two Faces of the Fire
We were taught
to divide the heart-
love as sacred,
hate as sin.
So we fight the dark current,
trying to tear out our anger
root by root,
believing that if we scream
at the shadow long enough
it will vanish.
But the mind is stubborn soil.
The more you prune the hate,
the deeper it digs.
The more you starve the monster,
the hungrier it grows
in the dark.
Love and hate
are not enemies.
They are two hands
of the same body.
Love builds the house,
begs the beautiful thing
never to die.
Hate holds the hammer
clears the ground,
reduces everything
to open earth.
They look like opposites.
Nature knows better.
No seed grows
until the soil is torn.
No temple rises
until the ruins fall.
No higher truth is born
until the old rules burn.
When destruction serves
creation,
the hammer
becomes as holy
as the blueprint.
The problem was never the hate.
It was the refusal
to look it in the eye.
Accept the fire.
Stop running
from your own capacity
to destroy.
In that single yes
the war ends.
Hate loses its teeth.
The shadow,
invited into light,
dissolves.
The root is cut.
And love finally blooms
not because it is pure,
but because it is whole.
